One of the curriculum strategies that I employ in my classroom is graphic organizer. Looking at my ESL students, I need something that can bring out their understanding and best fits their learning style in order to make them learn. Graphic organizer is one of the strategies that I know it works for my students because it is a visual aid. It helps them to grasp on the important key concepts of the lesson fast and also helps me to see how well my students understand the lesson has been taught.

  2. "Whoever is talking is the one learning!"

A lesson taught was on Creative Writing. A strategy used was the author's chair where the students were to present their story to their class. This was a great way for students to practice their reading skills as well as overcome their fear of public speaking. Many students in the ESL program are scared of speaking because they fear they will get laughed at. Once an environment of relaxation has been established, students will be comfortable to speak up and share their thoughts, ideas, opinions, etc. As the quote says, whoever is talking is the one learning and I believe this to be true.

I chose to present about differentiated instruction for ESL students in the classroom as my second curriculum engagement. Children learn in various ways so should the pre-assessments and assessments, instructional planning and presentation. Planning differentiated instruction is not just limited lesson modifications. I believe that differentiated instruction involves including the diversity of individual learning preferences such as environmental preferences, cognitive style preferences and students’ multiple intelligences.
