Collaborating with colleagues in class helped take theory or text-based information and made them applicable in today's society. Matching technique / method / strategy to student needs can help the student progress to learning English to be a contributive member in society.
I agree that cooperative learning is important to further enhance instruction. Appropriate matching is also essential.
ReplyDeleteResearch has shown that a child's culture affects his/her performance at school. As educators we must learn to embrace and promote the diverse needs of our students in order to create a safe learning environment. In my lesson plans, I always incorporate readings that celebrate the different cultures of my students. I find that students become more engaged and are having fun learning when the material is relevant and personal.
