Learn Twice!

“To teach is to learn twice.”
 - Joseph Joubert

When we teach we share what we've learned from what we have read regarding the topic. The other part of learning from teaching is applying it in our daily lives, teaching ourselves the right way to do things and correct ourselves from our wrong doing. As the saying goes " Practice what you preach and Preach what you practice"

  1. I couldn't agree more with the Joubert quote. I've always felt that I learned best by teaching. Educators need to have an in-depth knowledge of their content area to anticipate all sorts of questions that students might ask. Trying to teach content without having any prior knowledge is comparable to driving blindfolded--it's impossible!! Students expect teachers to be knowledgeable. Therefore, we must hold ourselves to our students' expectations so that real learning takes place.

  2. I agree with the quote. Teachers are not that perfect. Nobody perfect! As we teach, we are also learning from each other at the same time. Everyday filled with new information. So, I agree that it is better to read to update ourselves.
