  1. Benjamin Franklin once said, “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I will learn.” Benjamin Franklin, one of the founding fathers of America made many contributions. His quote here is one that is embedded on the foundations of teaching. As a teacher, we need to ensure that our students remember the major lessons we try to teach them. To just simply tell them is not enough, we must allow them the opportunity to apply the information to real life situations or engage them in conversation to discuss the importance, effects or whatever the case may be so that they can relate to it and be able to make use of that knowledge. Students are responsible for their learning and we must allow them the ability to take charge of it by involving them. The past practice of simply having the teacher talking has changed, when one talks, they learn. Usually teachers are the ones talking, we need to find ways to have the students be the ones to learn, to talk, to involve themselves so that learning and understanding of a lesson is occurring.

    1. Thorndike theory of learning trial and error explain how people learn. Learning by trial and error also help students remember and evaluate the lesson being taught. They grasp what is important and think its important and applied to real life situation. People learn from their mistake;therefore, I consider this theory to help me deal with my students and plan my lesson for the day.

  2. Learning without thinking is labor lost; thinking without learning is dangerous.
    ~ Chinese Proverb
This Chinese proverb speaks loudly about effective teaching and the results on students. In one of the chapters in our course book, it discusses how one teaches is not particularly how students learn. In my own teaching experience, there are times when I find myself frustrated after a lesson. I had to do my own lesson assessment to find the weak areas and to make improvements. Most of my instructional planning is based on similar topics from year to year but I have learned to make modification on certain lessons. Modifications are made to because of the learning needs and styles of my students. The teaching and learning should differ from group to group of students in order to have educational success in the children. As I plan lessons in a unit plan, the lessons may be similar but tweaked to meet the students’ interests and learning styles

  3. It takes a whole village to raise a child.
    - African Proverb

Teachers are not the only one to help the child learn. It takes the whole community to help the child to become a better student. All stakeholders should provide whatever resources available for the students to use in their learning and it is the students’ responsibility to explore through the materials and look for what’s applied for them. Teachers need to prepare students to become good thinker. We cannot move forward if we do not prepare our children and youths for employment opportunities.
